The rest of the article is now written in the past tense: the promotion "was 50% higher", "applied to Claude Code only, everywhere you use it: the CLI, IDE extensions, desktop, and the web", did not affect five-hour limits, and excluded Free plans and consumption-based Enterprise seats. What ClaudeDevs announced on August 29

The announcement is short but specific:

Starting September 14, we're permanently raising standard weekly limits in Claude Code by 25% for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. Until then, the current 50% increase will be in place.

Neither the post nor the support article gives absolute message counts or token quantities. That is expected: Anthropic's general guidance says Claude Code usage depends on the plan, model, feature, and length and complexity of the work rather than a fixed message count. (Claude pricing)

Two other Anthropic surfaces were checked on September 14, 2026 and do not yet carry the figure: the support article "Models, usage, and limits in Claude Code" (last updated April 15, 2026) and claude.com/pricing. The Claude Code weekly release digest has no entry for it either; the most recent published digest is Week 34. The promotion article is, for now, the only Anthropic-owned page that documents the 25%.

The change is to standard weekly limits in Claude Code. Neither the ClaudeDevs post nor the September 14 support-article update says that Anthropic is:

  • changing Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise subscription prices;
  • changing the rolling five-hour usage limit;
  • increasing limits for Claude web, mobile, desktop, or Cowork;
  • publishing a fixed number of additional messages;
  • changing API token pricing or consumption-based billing; or
  • adding a new plan.

The support article closes with "We have a lot more in the works around usage, visibility, and control, so stay tuned." It gives no specifics, and this page does not speculate about them.

How to check your own account

For a clean comparison:

  1. Run /usage and note the weekly-limit display.
  2. Compare it with a reading from before September 14 if you have one; the weekly figure should be about 17% below the promotional level.
  3. Check that your plan is one of the four named groups.

What the 17% note means

ClaudeDevs said the permanent 25% level is a 17% reduction compared with the 50% level. That arithmetic is consistent with comparing the two multipliers: 1.25 divided by 1.50 is about 0.833, so the new level is about 83% of the promotional level and therefore about 17% lower than it.

That does not mean weekly capacity has fallen below the pre-promotion baseline. Relative to that baseline, the new level is 25% higher; it is only lower than the temporary 50% promotion that ran from May 13 to September 13.
